Our continued love affair with Boots..
Posted on May 08 2023
As we move into Autumn and our landscape begins to take on a different look and feel, so too do our temperatures. Every year it seems to strike me that suddenly the evenings have become dark, and so the reality of a looming winter sets in. But, logically, we know that this is a gradual process on our 365 day journey around the sun. And so, time to start thinking about keeping our feet warm…
The earliest known image of a woman in boots has been found in a cave painting in Spain – depicting a man wearing boots of skin, and a woman in boots of fur. Offering some cosy protection against the elements! Ankle and calf length boots were common, functional items for most women in the 19th and early 20th century, but with the rising hemline came longer boots.
It wasn’t until the 1960’s that boots became known as a high fashion item, gracing the wardrobes of many women across the globe. And there they have retained their rightful place as a winter staple. Sometimes long, sometimes short, sometimes stilletoed and sometimes flat.

We take a look at our current 4 favourite boot trends this season:
Giving you all the height you need, but with none of the pain– the Block Heel really is a beautiful invention. If elevation lifts your mood then consider a block heeled boot as a more comfortable option – offering significant stability and easy to wear with dresses, jeans and leggings. Here are our three favourite, with the added comfort of padded leather footbeds and non-slip flexible soles:
Military Inspired boots:
Maybe it’s all the Olive colour tones we are seeing in clothing this winter
but these three easy-to-wear soft leather ankle boots,
with a slight military twist have us hooked:
The sneaker boot:
Following on from the massive sneaker explosion of the last few years, comes the sneaker boot!
What has become evident, from imposed lockdowns and a general sense
of dressing down over the past three winter seasons,
is that a lot of women now place far more value on comfort in their
footwear choices. We couldn’t agree more with this sentiment!
Take a look at our beautiful winter sneaks, all lined and socked in a silky soft leather:
The Equestrian boot:
The classic “Riding Boot” seems to still be firmly entrenched with us, elevating jeans and soft blouses all winter long. We love the simplicity of these three:
