Almost Barefoot - Exactly How I Like It

I’ve always loved walking barefoot. There’s something so real about it — the feeling of earth beneath you, the natural rhythm of your body finding its own way. Growing up, barefoot was just… normal. Comfort. Freedom.
So when I heard about barefoot shoes, I was very intrigued — but also a little skeptical. Could any shoe really come close to that barefoot feeling I love so much?
Enter: Pesso’s Lugana
It was the first barefoot shoe I tried, and honestly, I was surprised by how right it felt. Light, flexible, roomy — like my feet could finally breathe and move the way they were meant to. One thing I noticed immediately? The broader toe section. At first, it felt a little strange — especially if you’re used to traditional narrow shoes — but it quickly became one of my favourite features. My toes had space. Real space.
And interestingly, even though not all of Pesso’s other styles fall under the barefoot category, they’ve kept that same toe-friendly design across the board. I love that about them. My feet don’t feel cramped — ever.
What I appreciate most about the barefoot movement is its quiet honesty. It’s not about being extreme. It’s about listening to your body and stepping into a more natural way of moving (pun fully intended)
If you’re curious, start slow. Try one pair. Take a walk. Feel the difference. You might just find, like I did with the Lugana, that it’s the beginning of something beautifully freeing.
